Candlelight Vigil for Charlottesville

 

​Democratic Women of Comal County hosted a vigil for the three victims of the Charlottesville protests (8/13/2017): Heather Heyer, a civil rights protester and H. Jay Cullen & Berke Bates, state troopers.  The vigil was held at the Comal County Democratic Party Headquarters office in New Braunfels.

The vigil opened with a moment of silence followed by a reading of the quote above.  Participants talked about strength, shared reflections about our country's current events, empathized with the victims' families.  The group discussed what the anti-fascist protestors experienced and how we must make our voices heard.

The vigil ended when candles were raised and then blown out, to "blow away hate"....
