2018 Comal County Democratic Convention

About 80 attendees turned up for the Comal County Democratic Convention at the New Braunfels Civic Center on Saturday, March 24th. After an invocation by Joe Turner, the meeting was called to order by County Chair, Bob Rogers. Thirty-five delegates were selected to attend the state convention, which will be held June 21st to 23rd of this year in Fort Worth. Other Democrats are welcome to attend, but only the 35 officially selected at the County Convention will be allowed to vote. Several resolutions were discussed, and many of them were approved for submission to the state convention. The group heard brief statements by Maria Saenz-Rodriguez, who will be running for a second term to represent Senate District 25 on the Texas Democratic Executive Committee; by Dorothy Carroll, who is running for Comal County Commissioner, Precinct 4; and by Gloria Meehan, who is running for Comal County Clerk. Special thanks to our County Chair, Bob Rogers; to Carol Smith, who did the planning and organization for the event; and to all the workers who assisted in registration, typing resolutions, product sales, and providing refreshments.
